FNCE® Recap 2023


The Illinois Academy is hosting a virtual round table discussion about the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) for active members and students on Thursday, October 26 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. Whether you're a seasoned RD or a dietetic intern, find out about opportunities, reasons why you should attend and what to expect at FNCE during this discussion. The round table discussion will feature 3 panelists. 

Zoom registration link will be emailed to members in the October Bulletin and on October 18 and 24.

Speakers: 

Alexandra Sarkisian, MS, RDN, LDN

Alexandra is a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Science in Nutrition from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in nutrition from University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been a clinical dietitian at Northwestern Medicine for about 4 years, working primarily at Woodstock Hospital covering the inpatient rehab and behavioral health units. Her passions in nutrition are addressing food insecurity, diabetes management and working with a collaborative, interdisciplinary team in physical medicine and rehab!

Anita Davila, RDN

Anita is a clinical registered dietitian consultant working in chronic kidney disease and nephrology at Chicago hospitals in the Illinois Medical District. A proud Latina, Anita loves being able to provide nuanced and easy to understand medical nutrition therapy to Spanish-speaking patients. She also is passionate about providing compassionate and quality care to inner-city, underserved populations, and to minorities. Prior to becoming a registered dietitian, Anita worked in the community nutrition field where she helped manage food security programming for the second largest food pantry in Illinois, located in the suburbs of Chicago. Anita was awarded the IAND’s Young Nutrition & Dietetics Technician of the year award in 2019. She is an avid supporter of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics having served in several committees and groups, including LAHIDAN MIG, DIFM DPG, and the Council on Future Practice. Originally from Mexico, Anita has lived in Chicagoland for over 20 years; she completed her distance undergraduate dietetics program via The University of Alabama, and she also completed her dietetic internship by distance through Utah State University. Anita is a mom of three children. In her spare time, she listens to podcasts and audiobooks. 

Christine Catalano

Christine is a graduate student in the second year of her master's program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her interests include sports nutrition and clinical nutrition. In her free time, Christine is an avid Chicago sports fan and has the goal of visiting all the MLB stadiums. She loves to be active by walking her dog Niko, riding her bike, and playing sports recreationally.
